Though the Fisker Karma Hybrid has a significant backer in VC firm Kleiner-Perkings, much of the Karma prototype we saw was still held together with epoxy. In fact, we weren't even allowed to open the doors ourselves. A specially trained assistant was there to make sure we didn't break the car. All this goes to say that the bar graphs designed to show consumption (left) and range (right) may not make it in and, hopefully, will receive something better looking than the gelled inserts seen here.

I'm generally not a fan of Henrik post BMW/Aston Martin, but the Karma is pretty hot. Kind of a modren (sp) Quattroporte (Maserati is going to personanongrata me for that remark).
Let's all keep our fingers crossed that they can roll past the mockup stage with the $80 pricetag intact.
Why even have round dial hoods if there aren't any dials?
I dub this vehicle "Tron Popeil"
Original plans for the dash
Fisker, for when your Tesla is in the shop.
For Kleiner Perkins the only bar graph that matters is the one on the dash from the NASDAQ charting the stock performance.
Ohh Man!!
These sucked when Nissan used them. They sucked when GM used them. They just plain suck. Once your familiar with the instrument cluster you can almost always find the info quicker with a dial that a bar graph.
These should have remained on the scrap heap with the talking cars!!
Cliche pastiche; Starter button, raised leather stitching, led dash circa 1984, and chrome cup-holders. Lord!
@fatbraff:
Curse the bean counters!
I remember every little number
Needle sweeping as if it were yesterday
Parking out the back
And there was not another car in sight
And I never had a car
Like the futuristic kids did
And all the kids at school
They were laughing their ass off at me every night
But now my new one's panels are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And they're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C'mon! Hold on tight!
The starter button's just to the right!
Though it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the digital dashboard lights!
Looks a bit like dashboard Pong.
@ash78:
COTD Pre-Nom.
Didn't the mid 80s Vette have this kind of dash?
Yup, an 80's Vette alright.........

@poxpopulus: Pedantically he says: You mean this one?
[cgi.ebay.com]
Sorry.
@CEMan: Did they suck when "Knight Rider" Used Them???
@Rust-MyEnemy:
Doh. Worse yet that Fisker has "seen the future" and it's an 89 Blazer.
@poxpopulus: Too right! Every other car since then has been shit!
@Rust-MyEnemy: That dash cluster is 89 types of awesome.
i actually like digital gauge clusters. a lot. nostalgia for a decade i didnt have to live through, i guess...
they don't really work on modern cars, though... except for ones that are just lcd screens, like in the S-class and the Reventon.
Reminds me of the old '86 Ny'er 2.2turbo... I keep hearing, Beep-beep-beep..."Your washser fluid is low..." and subsequently feel like I want to cut somones tounge out. Anyone who's ever owned one of those goddamned talking cars knows what I'm talking about.
I personally vote that digital gauges suck, but digital speedometers rule. I constantly check my gauges, but only to see if they've moved from where I last remember. Quick sight referencing, that's it.
But a digital speedo is wonderful. You almost always know exactly how fast over the limit you're going. It's very hard to be wrong.
i really really like bar graph tachos, they make me moist.
Fisker was watching V for Vendetta a bit too much when designing the front. Why do designers these days find it so had to design a decent looking front on a car? First the Hannibal Lecter Audi and now this...
