While roaming the endless halls of the Consumer Electronics Show, our Gizmodo brethren caught some pics of a Cadillac Escalade EXT that does not follow the crowd. The MTX Audio demo vehicle is bare of that essential element of the modern balla ride - bling. It's finish is so flat it makes Nebraska jealous. Even the headlights are gloss free. Sure the point is probably to accentuate the massive audio system taking up the entire back seat, but that doesn't stop us from admiring a truck that goes against the grain.

Why did someone liquid paper over the headlights?
Paint delete option ... check.
A case of taking lipstick off the pig.
This here is why the third world hates America.
The coulour gives new meaning to the phrase 'You can't polish a turd'.
@DoctorNine:
But African warlords and Middle-Eastern oil magnates have to have SOME culture to aspire to. As best as I can tell, it's American Hip-Hop these days.
SO that Abandoned, faded and rotting 75 Silverado in my neighbors yard is now hip and cool???
Come on guys and gals... Anti-Bling is the new Bling
I really dig it.
Still don't like these, but this looks better than the polished up Escalade. Get rid of the stereo, add cherry bombs, supercharger, and a tasteful flame job and this would be pretty cool.
Park it next to your camo'd Bentley, while sporting one of those lame mesh trucker hats.
Matte paint is so 2005.
@bd_juju: better make it a "von dutch" trucker hat because we all know he was a clothing label FAR before he was an anti-semite.
Well, if the colour works well on an SR-71......
No.
Those pictures look like they came from a comic book. I mean, I know that that's a real, 3d car, but my eyes don't believe it. Slightly offputting effect going on there.
That's REALLY ugly. It looks like some Dr. Evil retrofitted an automatic carwash with sandblasting equipment...
I actually think it looks pretty sweet. I agree with Dr. Spaceman, it almost looks like it is a cel-shaded animation but in real life. badass.
Someone needs to make a show called "Unpimp My Ride"...
@fatbraff: They did. It's called a Vdub commercial.
you can touch it up with a piece of charcoal if it gets scratched.
Calling all cars...calling all cars...be on the look for Johnny Dangerously...last seen driving a black...no wait..a blue car covered with duckies...no wait...fellas, you're not going to believe this one....
A stealthy douche car.
They should've used Comic Sans for the logos and really blown people's minds.
Apparently they had a special on chalkboard paint at Lowe's.
I like matte-finish cars (either by chemistry or by age), and it's unfortunate that the look is getting trendier by the second.
I remember when you could buy a primered mustang for like $1500 and you were considered good-ole white trash. Now you're an prudent investor with very avant-garde tastes.
Am I the only person who got excited when I saw MTX, only to be let down when I read "MTX audio?" Escalade with three pedals would be badass.
Well, this car DOES have its advantages. For instance, the matte paint is a definate anti-radar capabilities in that it absorbs rather than reflects the beam. Not sure how it would affect LIDAR though. In any case, that's irrelevant because the stupid speakers produce enough reverse thrust that this thing will be relegated to doing 12 thumping miles an hour.
To me it looks like those full size clay models companies produce when they want to show off a car, but have enough of the actual vehicles to do so.
I love the matte finish. Currently finishing up matte-ing and 85 4Runner. Wonder how they did the headlights.
die bling, die.
That's horrendous.
it looks inflatable.
Yeah, it looks like a marker-drawing. It actually is a neat effect, and one worth commending. Just not repeating.
It makes one deliberate internally: if something shiny makes the sound "bling", what the heck kinda sound, if any, does something flat or matte make? Help me out here.
Nice Avalanche...woops I mean Escal-arse.
@BMOREDLJ: I'm eagerly awaiting proposals - this could make Customizing history!
How about "Thump"?
I'm also an anti-bling guy, but matte isn't the solution!
I'd be more impressed if this truck was painted gunmetal with black wheels.
I also like how MTX is now blatantly ripping off the Kicker L7 square subwoofer design. What has happened to the car audio industry?!?
I actually like it.. looks almost cartoon-like, very simple and clean. Looks like robocop wasn't too far off, cars of the future WILL be flat grey :-)
@etang: Yet, it's still a pig.
@Papercutninja: AH HAHAHAHAHA! 12 thumping MPH! oh, and welcome back. Glad the cuts have healed. :)
With each Escalade that's taken off the roads and relegated to show car duty, the world becomes a better place.
For an Escalade, it's not bad. Wheels're dumb, tho.
Cool, it looks like a bad Poser model.
