As far as GT2 cars go, it's pretty standard. E85 in itself is just there to fool the tree-hugging rubes.

I think producing E85 uses more energy to produce it than standard gasoline, without a corresponding increase in power produced.

Now if you can make sense from that last sentence, you're doing better than I am!

E85 has less energy by volume than gasoline, so engines running on it have to run a richer air/fuel ratio and therefore get poorer mileage than they would with regular gasoline. However, E85 also has a higher octane than pump gas (it's in the 105-110 range, I think) which allows higher boost, higher compression, more advanced ignition timing... the performance possibilities are still being explored. Too bad it's just a bunch of smoke and mirrors to fool the rubes in Iowa.
