Even though an 80s Ford Crown Victoria with a 302 under the hood probably doesn't stand much of a chance of beating the nimbler cars, we're still rooting for Team Sin City LeMons. That's because they've got North Las Vegas Barbie riding on the bumper, a fur-covered roll cage, and some other nice features...

How about casino carpeting for a vinyl top?

These fearless Nevadans drove a woodgrain station wagon in the very first 24 Hours of Lemons race, and they're going to roll the dice again today!

Speaking of dice, check out this hood ornament. This car needs to be the Official State Car for the Silver State. Dice, chips, and cards- what more does a man need?

This car is also a Lemons veteran and ran at the July Altamont race.
If they made 22" wagon wheels this would be a fantastic rig for a white rapper.
I live about 100 yards from the city limits of NLV. While I've never met Sin City Barbie, god knows there are some women who could pass for her. Lots of cars here look like that too!
I wonder how long the doll will last.
Wait a minute... Isn't this actually an LTD, rather than a Crown Vic? Wasn't the Crown Victoria appellation reserved for a different trim level, much like Brougham was for Cadillac and Pontiac?
@FLB: Yeah, "Brougham" is shorthand for "vinyl roof."
It's hard not to love this Vegas car.
Why can't there be a webcast of this important event?? I'd chip in to support it.
You all saw the Ford Panther Country Squire autocross video.
5.0 liters of powerful V8 workhorse engine, a steel body, a steel frame, and cop car suspension.
How can you beat that?
Are ya feeling lucky, punk?
Well are ya?
All the yuppie German sedans with numbers for names [you know who you are] had better beware the mighty Ford Panther.
@FLB: In 1983 the fullsize LTD became the "LTD Crown Victoria," and the LTD was a midsize car based on the Fairmont (like I own).
The midsize LTD was discontinued in 1986 and the "LTD Crown Victoria" name continued on until 1991. In 1992 the LTD name was dropped and it was just "Crown Victoria."
@Novaload: This is supposed to be a cam of the race, but I can't get it to load.

@LTDScott: Thanks. I'll keep checking to see if it loads.
Sad to say but the SinCity Lemons team threw a rod yesterday. They were up all night installing a junker engine only to find the driveline didnt "do so well" when the engine froze. They are still trying to get the car fixed. Gotta love the spirit !!!
@LTDScott:
[QUOTE]Sorry guys… the problem with the live in-car webcast was that we couldn't get a decent internet connection. When it figured out what was wrong, it was too late to move our system closer to the wi-fi access point in the club house. I tried to use a tethered cell-phone internet connection as well, but the AT&T service at the track wouldn't support a fast enough connection.
Live & Learn!
The bad news is the we cooked our engine after a little over 2 hours, and we didn't bring a spare. We closed up shop & headed for home.
It was a gas while it lasted… We'll do better on the in-car webcast next time, and we will post in-car videos on the web site.

Heres a blog from Team Johansson. The wheat farmer who built the engine is a Fiero guy and a friend of mine:
