Each race car at the 24 Hours of LeMons must pass a rigorous inspection, in order to ensure that it complies with the letter- and spirit- of the official rules. No nerf bars... no $2500 engines... no wooden roll cages. Judging is a solemn affair, as you can see from the above photo of the Supreme LeMons Tribunal.

That's it. I consider myself a conneseiur (sp?) of sub-$500 vehicles, it runs in the family, so I'm convinced it's genetic, so I'm gonna really consider going to one of these.
I can see an early-80's Delta 88 bombing around the track, 8-track player busting out some George Clinton...
So... Who's been thrown out?
@Kelly: "Connoisseur" FWIW. I'm currently driving a 300,000 mile '86 Ford Ranger that my buddy gave me (free) when his wife said "get rid of it". That gives me the whole $550 for modifications. Maybe there's hope for a "LeMons East"?
I think you have a case for an appeal, based on the presumption that any two men in curly wigs, comporting in an overly familiar fashion with a pink-haired floozy, are more than likely under the influence of strong hallucinogens of some sort.
@Mike the Dog: Word!
@Mike the Dog: there are 2 east coast races on the 2008 schedule, one at Carolina Motorsports Park in South Carolina and one at Stafford Speedway here in Connecticut.
Man, I wanna do this so freakin' bad. If only I had a 500 dollar car. And some vacation time. And some friends.
@DoctorNine: You don't understand- the "pink-haired floozy" is a judge, too!
@smokyburnout: Well, that makes it about five other Jalopnik Fans in Connecticut....
I'm down in NC, so I'm game...
@UDMAN: I'm mediocre at a lot of things automotive, but I am yet another Jalopnik Fan in Connecticut.
when is the AUSTRALIA race?
Mad MAX!!
humongous!!!
and
wEZ
What about a midwest race? I bought my Dodge shadow from my aunt for only $5 and I'd rather race it than put it in a demolition derby...
