Yes, a Jeep did crash on South Main in Royal Oak, MI today. Yes, the crash apparently took down three electric poles and a "minor forest of trees," causing 500 people to be without power for a large chunk of the day. Yes, I do live in Royal Oak, just a block away from the crash. No, it was not me or my Jeep that was involved in the crash. Please stop sending it in as a "tip," thank you very much. You're all freakin' hilarious. [Freep]
If a Jeep Crashes in Royal Oak and Nobody is Around to Hear it, Was it Wert?

Ha!
poor ray lives in a windowless apartment.
Jeez, there was a power pole blown over on Lincoln right near south main that they just fixed yesterday.
An Ex of mine lived right there...and drove a late model Jeep, but she claims to have not totally launched through the air either.
The article is hilarious. The police believe she "may have lost control" of the vehicle. Well, duh!
She only took out 5 trees, not a "small forest" but they were 8 inchers, and that's pretty amazing.
Also hilarious from the article is the suggestion that she "May have been speeding". I'm going to guess that she was, since the speed limit is 25 down there (slight chance I'm wrong and it's 35), which seems a little slow to take out a few utility poles, a sign, and a small forest.
@sandwich_pants: I feel like it's 25 MPH there...
@Ray Wert:
And there aren't any ramps, natural or man made there, so perhaps she's just trying to be hoon of the day?
If one were looking for ramps, they'd be best served at 12 Mile, where it crosses main, and there are some nice trapezoidal concrete barriers capable of launching a car into a mean aerial corkscrew. I've only seen them cause minor rollovers, but that's just a sign of a lack of enthusiasm.
@Ray Wert: Great, but what did you drive to your reunion? Al Navarro and I are holding a vigil until you give it up.
Say, you didn't wreck the car you chose, did you? Because THAT would be freakin' hilarious.
@Bumblebee: maybe... ;)
@Ray Wert: It is.
@Ray Wert: Don't ask me to explain why I hope for this, but if your "maybe" means "kinda, yeah", I hope upon hope that you took the multi-million dollar concept car.
You know, just for the story.
@Bumblebee:
I'm so happy you posted that...I was in my "I'm just thankful that Ray posted my second ad review so I won't sweat him about the car he drove to his reunion" mode.
But I'm fully recovered now.
don't jeep me wert
i got one better. on my trip to visit family in detroit . we were driving around near indian village and saw a 90ish jeep cherokee crashed into a dollar store, inside the store, sideways... with barely any damage to the front door.
ill let you guys know when i upload the photo
ah... home sweet home
@camp6ell:
In the ugliest building in Royal Oak, too.
@readplays:
COTD Nomination....
I see the young lady who caused all this ruckus is from Hazel Park. That explains it. People in the Park are not known for being the sharpest tools in the shed.
"A minor forest of trees."
I remember all the cynics that got angry that a forest suddenly appeared in the remake of Assault on Precinct 13. Perhaps this was the same forest, and now all of those self-confident leafy bastards finally got what they deserved after running their fifteen minutes of fame. Bitches.
@Bumblebee & @Al Navarro: I, too, join you in that vigil until we hear about how Wert hooned it up at his reunion.
And if it was the Jeep, didn't I once read that the body cracked when it was being tested at Moab? Ray, did you re-injure the Jeep?
Lolz. I'm suprised that the cars from that gas station on main street have never appeared as cars on the street, seeing as that Demon is theoretically about to pass by a '68 Camaro, '69 GTX, '61 New Yorker, and a '60 Desoto if it continues down that road another 200 yards.
How's 5th Avenue, Ray?
Wait, Wert lives at O'Tooles? Good on ya, lad! Have you ever seen the rumored basement "rec room"?
@TexansAreHot:
Dude, where have you been lately?
