Somehow we came across this logo for the new 2009 Ford F-150 pickup we're expecting to be revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in just two weeks. We're not even really sure where it came from or how we came across the site we found it at. But one thing's for sure — it's most assuredly the new logo for the new boldly moving pickup truck from the Dearborn, MI -based automaker. Yes, it's the tape-covered logo we've seen in the the F-150 spy photos. And yes, it IS a slow news day. Why do you ask? [via TopSpeed]

I hope you guys are still on vacation somewhere. I know I am.
@TinaChow: Wish I were. One of these days I'll take one. Heck, one of these days I might actually sleep.
If this is news, then wake me up sometime after the first of the year......
its a slow news day?! according to the time you posted this is 8:45am and its barely 8:03 am so if you dont feed people a lot of stuff by then you declare it a "slow news day"?
F to the ISO?
It used to be a truck. Then it was a luxury truck. Now, somehow, it is a "fashion statement" for men.
Could I have just a truck? You know, engine, tranny, radio, bigass box in the rear? That's all I really want. Fancy seats are dumb - I carry enough junk in my pockets to ruin the expensive ones just as fast as the cheap ones. Satnav is for pussies too afraid to get out and ask directions. (I can also read a map as a last resort). Radio that picks up some decent rock, a Christian station or two, some news. Doesn't even have to be FM.
The tranny doesn't have to be manual, but that would be my preference. Barring that, a big, dumb C4 and 4.56 rear for if there's ever any towing, and a tall sturdy overdrive for the many many times there isn't.
I want - nay, DEMAND! - the return of the 300ci I6 that was the base motivation for so many F150s. It was nothing special, but durable. Oh, yes, durable.
Can I have all of that? Please?
No?
Sh!t.
@elhigh: You are not who "they think" their target market is anymore, whoever "they" are.
That logo looks like the logo they would use for some lame Will Ferrel or Ben Stiller movie. LAME.
@clinto: It's lame to use a lame lame reference twice in a lame post. LAME.
I wonder how much they paid some graphic designer to come up with that. "Ooh, let's curve the corner of the F!" Brilliant stuff.
And so it was that Ford moved into the next century.
You justknow HQ is filled with this logo on key chains and hats and other crap in the marketing closet.
@elhigh: I'm with you. Give me like an F-27. 150 is too much Ford for me.
@elhigh: I've got one of those:
Sorry...didn't know picture didn't work on here. It's a Toyota T100. About as plain jane as they come.
I'm embarrassed for the entire American auto industry.
Ford-Bold moves in all the wrong directions.
@elhigh: I agree, although I would make two concessions: 1. a 3.92 rear end, cus hey I like my hearing, and 2. an IPod adapter since modern radio sucks. But otherewise, totally agree.
Just so everyone knows, I'm moving on to the next generation of Maymar posts. As per our marketing groups, there'll be more big, ten dollar words, and I'm moving on to a newer, bolder font.
But yeah, I miss trucks you could beat with a baseball bat for fun.
@Maymar: COTD?
I want a F100. You know, like an F150 without all the plastic poser poo-poo. (Ahh, the things we do for the sake of alliteration!) Maybe once they take the Ranger out back of the barn, they'll go for it.
I demand all-steel construction.
@elhigh: Personally, I'd love a NON-USDM Ford Ranger 4-door like I saw down in Belize (this is not the little kid suicide doors on a super cab, but four real doors) that is NOT an explorer wannabe but a real small truck.
Ford should reverse course and offer special editions with FEWER options. Call it the "Dude" Ranch or "Mule" Edition or something..
I currently drive a titan and am looking to upgrade. I guess not all that familiar with the ford. Can you tell me what problems ford have that should be ware of?
I currently own a tacoma and am looking at upgrading. Not familiar with the ford however you seem to have concerns with ford or american products. is there something i should be aware of? can you elaborate.
