Given the buzz surrounding Knight Rider and Speed Racer, we're surprised we haven't seen more people flipping out over the possible reamke of The A-team. Fox seems to get that nostalgia plus questionable acting equals buzz and has John Singleton (Boyz N The Hood) in the wings to direct. Oh, and Ice Cube may play B.A. Baracas!
According to Variety, the latest version involves a group of Iraq vets on the run from the U.S. Military for crimes they didn't commit ("that wasn't our naked pyramid"). But the line that has us really excited is this:
"[The] story has been given a modern twist by involving oil tycoons and laser technology."Need we say more?
The big question, of course, is it going to be a classic GMC van, a new GMC Sierra or, as our tipster put it "will Ford usurp the General's place in yet another 80's revival?" We actually think the Ford Flex could make a good ride if they're going in that direction. What does everyone think?(Hat tip to ThnderbltDoherty) [Photo of A-Team Limo story Variety]

I wonder if Mr. T will be involved?
He should.
It should be the classic, but I'm willing to bet its going to be some kind of H2 derivative.
I Know !!!
Let's go totally weird and use a Dodge Sprinter Van !
Or let's go with something imported?? From Iraq...
Is there any original ideas in California left ??
Nissan better hurry up with their concept van for this show...
Quick, somebody crank call Gary Coleman and tell him his days of cleaning shithouses are over because John Singleton is looking for someone to play a mini B.A. Baracas and we know he has experience...

At least once a week I find myself making an A-Team reference, and lately other people have started noticing.
I need to get out more.
This is the end of civilization as we know it....
I painted a red stripe on my PowerWheel when I was a youngin.
I vote 1970 Ford E-series. Knightrider went from GM to Retro Ford, and Ford don't make a retro van, so it has to be the real deal. And, like, it has to be a Ford, right? I mean, that's obvious.
How long before AirWolf and other such things come back? WHEN WILL IT END?!?!?! (when the earning power of those raised in the 80's becomes questionable because their debt and interest surpass their earnings and mom and dad can't bail them out anymore, that's when).
@Buckster:
No, he's pretty busy with other projects these days.
Oh, and he's outgrown that silly persona.
Theyre gonna ruin it hardcore.
A Team is All American. I vote for putting them in a Chevy Uplander!
Do you think they will still have the cache of machine guns in the back?
@danio3834: By ruin it, do you mean make it it more cheesy?
Let stick to a GM Van...Opel Vivaro
I really hope that they don't make it a campy POS like the Starsky & Hutch movie... it would be awesome if they went the Miami Vice route and made it really dark and gritty.
I say they go for something modern but but a DAMD loco boy II on it... that will solve this dilemma. Ice Cube as B.A? Mister T is still live only he can be B.A...
Heres What I see.
Harrison ford as Hannibal
Nick Cage as Murdock
Brad Pitt as Face
Ving Rhames as B.A
Jack Nicholson as Col Decker
and Megan Fox as Amy
Maybe Smart will beat out Ford...
[www.smartsrus.com]
i think it needs to stay a GMC van.. at least keep one thing from my childhood right..
I'm so sick of all these F-ing remakes! Where are we going? Where does it end? Is there going to be a Cosby Show Movie coming out next fall? WTF?
Screw Gary Coleman, cast all the characters as midgets and make it a mini-series...
I'm truly sorry.
(maybe one more)
And put them in a mini-van
@danio3834: That was my first thought. Miami Vice Style (still pissed about that)
If it's not a GMC Savanna, we're going to have problems (and when I say "we" I mean "the studio").
@RLJ676
Oh, like his WoW commercial? I'd say that persona is alive and kickin.
@ Sandwich_Pants
Heh. Excellent observation. I bought Airwolf Season 1 DVD, watched three episodes and a week later wondered, why the #@&% did I buy that??
With the new KITT being a Ford, I wouldn't be surprised if the new van was a Dodge Sprinter.
@dylanseals: Shhhh, don't give them any ideas!
I pitty the fool that doesn't use a black cargo van with a red stripe and a super cool spoiler.
@Maxichamp:
The Brabus tuned version.
Bring back "The Greatest American Hero"! I always loved Connie Sellecca in her convertible VW Superbeattle...
@Atelier:
I can't smack you in person, but I wish I could.
Ice Cube gave up all rights to play a hardcore role when he did "Are We There Yet". He officially jumped the shark.
I have a feeling that the van will be ditched for some form of SUV in this iteration, which will suck just as much as the GT500KR.
@pitchpitch: You mean the B.A. Brabus tuned version...
@00solstice:
I thought my sarcasm was laid on thick enough for the internets even, maybe not.
Let me rephrase. Mister T would do this for peanuts. He has nothing else going on and is a 50 year old man wearing 50lbs of cheap gold jewlery.
@Atelier: If your serious I Hate You.
Remember the episode when they took the dentists Nitrous Oxide to put in that kick-ass van? I do.
I love it when a Van comes together! or comes apart!
OMG, what will be the next rotting corpse they exhume to "re-make?" Just offhand there's the Bradys, and the Adaams family and Bewitched and Starsky & Hutch, and the Beverly Hillbillies--stuff that was SO marginal to begin with.
I fear the vehicle will be some species of Hummer.
@Novaload: it's all about money to them, not great art.
This is it, time for the HHR to get some face time. And only hotrodmetal made the reference we were all waiting for.
@crazygutgut: Ving Rhames came to my mind as well, but I'm not sure if he's the guy for it. He's the right size, that's for sure, but his characters always seem to (for lack of a better term) plod along. Mr. T's B.A. was Clubber Lang after an anger management course which is why, based on his role in Three Kings, I think Ice Cube would be perfect.
Oh, and since he's still around, Robert Vaughn should reprise the roll of General Stockwell.
Theyre just gonna go and change things about the show that shouldnt have, and yeah itll be cheezy with piss poor acting, but i guess that was part of the original show.
As long as the new A-Team van is a GMC, I wont object.
If they make it something stupid like a Sprinter, Ill be pissed.
Problem is, an A-Team movie has had more false starts than a Chevette on a cold morning. Show me a trailer, show me a plan coming together, and I'll be giddy.
And I really hope they conveniently get locked in a warehouse with the aforementioned lasers, B.A.'s van, and a Corvette ZR-1 (or at least an LS9). Cue awesome hand-assembly montage, and hopefully all will be right with the world.
@PolishDon: Or go even more weird... imagine BA Baraccas driving a Ford Freestyle or a Mazda 5... At least the Sprinter is a heavy duty vehicle even though it isn't fast.
A remake? I think I drank my milk too fast...
Isn't the Chevy Tahoe todays van?
If you wanna see how the new GMC Savanna looks like the A-team van, check this link out.
