Talk about depressing. Despite the fact that SUVs are being viewed more and more as a social disease, automakers are backing away from the logical alternative, i.e. wagons. Why? Well, according to this here article titled The American wagon beats a retreat, the reason for the massive slowdown in wagon sales is CUVs. That's right kids, crossovers. Sales of wagons went from 250,000 in 2004 to just 120,000 this year. The entire segment could fall as low as 100,000 measly sales next year. Does this mean no Pontiac G8 wagon? Probably. [MSNBC.com]
