Ever since I set my bedroom carpet on fire while rewiring a cordless drill, my mom's frowned on the idea of me playing with power tools. Free from such motherly restrictions, dozens of competitors took part in the Silverline Power Tool Drag Race last weekend at the Haynes Motor Museum in England. Riderless belt sanders and drills raced down a 75-foot wooden track - like a more dangerous version of CO2 racers - while leaf blower and chainsaw powered ride-ons took to the parking lot. Top speeds don't look that impressive, but sitting inches from a failure prone two-stroke spinning a cutting chain probably replaces the danger that comes with speed pretty well. A video of the racers in action follows the jump.
