    BMW M3 Cabrio, Near Production

    Retractable hardtop for a bit more rigidity? Check. Last vestiges of spy-thwarting disguise? Check. High-revving V8 causing forward motion? Apparently so. Hans-Joachim Stück behind the wheel pounding out apexes? Probably not. But still, that's the BMW M3 cabrio, mutable hardtop affixed, rounding the Nürburgring on a shakedown mission before it debuts this September in Frankfurt. After that, it'll more likely be an ornament of the Hamptons, on LA's coast highway and Miami's Ocean Drive than a racetrack flogee. Overengineering, thy name is Bimmer. – Mike Spinelli
