According to Automotive News Europe, there's trouble in supercar paradise. Mercedes and McLaren, once close as kittens in a basket, are reportedly parting ways, putting the kabosh on a successor to the SLR. Word is, Mercedes has opted for the mad motorsports acumen of HWA, partner in Merc's DTM racers. A prototype of Mercedes' next six-fig super-sports car, under the AMG banner, could arrive in time for the Geneva motor show next year. But utter no lamentations for McLaren. All those Formula One bucks have to go somewhere, and word is they're going toward a new F1 supercar. Methinks a supercar grudge match could benefit all. – Mike Spinelli
