Not only does it feature a young not-yet-bald Danny DeVito, the 1977 classic film The Van climaxes with what may be the finest all-van drag racing scene in cinematic history. It's a Chevy-versus-Dodge custom-van street race, complete with feathered-hair babe as the starter and incoherent brute as the bad-guy driver. Sure, film scholars talk pretty big about Battleship Potemkin and Citizen Kane now, but mark my words: in 100 years The Van will be considered the zenith of the 20th-century's signature art form. And we learn a valuable tip for custom-van drag racers: drain the waterbed before the race. Added bonus: the Sammy Johns song "Chevy Van" as the soundtrack.
