I was in the Ford section of the local self-service junkyard last weekend, looking for some bits for the Crown Vic, and I stumbled across something you don't see every day in that type of yard: a 90s Mustang with a nice surprise under the hood...

Junkyard Find: 1990 Ford MustangS

Hey, that's a 5.0 HO engine! Most of the goodies- including the engine ECU- are still there (too bad the car's an automatic; with a 5-speed this thing would be a junkyard jackpot). Of course, the car looks like it's lived a hard life and no doubt the engine's been hammered on relentlessly by a succession of leadfooted hoons, but not a bad gamble for a couple hundred bucks for the complete engine. Sometimes the HO engines stay in the yard for a few days (especially the ones in the Lincoln Mark VIIs), but usually they're yanked out hours after they hit the yard. Seeing this engine made me wish I had a Mercury Bobcat to put it in...
