Hell Is Chrome: Subaru's New Impreza Breaks CoverS

The boys at Edmunds did the merciful thing. They resolved all the tension created earlier this week when images of the new Subaru Impreza leaked online. Yes, kids, this is the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX, sporting a new, slab-sided, hatch'd out, chrome-nosed appearance that's sure to raise Subie fans' hackles. And since the company's focus was on creating the new style, improving the interior and raising build quality, no further surprises await beneath that faceted hood. Materiel has been carried over from past wars. A turbocharged 2.5-liter engine — producing around 225 hp and 226 ft-lb of torque — hooked to five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic remain status quo. Expect some improvements to the all-wheel-drive system and steering. One housekeeping note: We'll have to wait for the fall for the STi (think Tokyo show).
