According to the Automobile Producers Committee of the Association of European Business Russian Federation Branch (APCAEBRFB), sales of foreign cars jumped 88% in January 2007, year-on-year. Ford was the sales leader, which is odd news for American ears, trailed by Chevrolet and Toyota in the top three. This follows a general trend of expansion in the Russian automotive market. In 2006, the importation of new cars increased 76% to 720,000 (though we're sure at least 50% of those went into the collection of some oligarch). This is probably the most popular American cars have been in Russia since the WWII lend-lease program, which resulted in many strange Russian variations of American truck models made with the support of American manufacturers. – Matt Hardigree
