Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety and Democratic Senator Ellen Corbett of San Leandro are hopping mad that automakers are dodging California's Lemon Law by not covering military personnel transferred to the Golden State, as well as sending vehicles declared lemons to other states under the guise of "customer satisfaction" issues, rather than severe vehicluar defects. According to a 2006 memo, DaimlerChrysler attempted to send a lemon '04 Dakota to Washington state, stating "This is a regular transfer (to DaimlerChrysler) and should not be branded in any way as a lemon-law buyback."
