This multimedia device popped up on BMW's international site this week, possibly presaging a bid by the Munichers to do an end-run around Apple by building a proprietary unit rather than reconfiguring its audio componentry to better support iPods. A press release — under the cryptic headline, "What is your idea of joy?" — indicates the device supports Bluetooth and USB, plays CDs, DVDs (via a 65,000-color LCD screen) and MP3 files and interprets voice commands. We're not sure what it is, but we're guessing Intel is involved. The company says more information is forthcoming, but why wait when you can speculate? Take our poll.
