Pics of Volvo's conceptual small crossover, the XC60 were sucked into the black hole of the Web this morning, as the company prepares to show off the prototype at the Detroit show next month. Based on the same platform as the Land Rover LR2, the baby XC90 is expected to debut in production trim for the 2009 model year. As the concept points out, Volvo's stylings are approaching parity with Ford Europe's compelling "kinetic" design language, whose identifying quiver of channels, swage lines and stretch marks give the stationary sheetmetal the appearance of momentum. No word yet on powerplant or other vitals, though we're sure a cascade of such is forthcoming. – Mike Spinelli
