You can't tell from the shots of this test mule, but Jaguar's next S-Type is on its way to a mid-2007 unveiling, ahead of the 2008 model year. A head-to-toe redesign — spec'ed in Photoshop on The Car Connection — will give the new-generation S a sleeker shape and, and hopefully for Jaguar, more customers. Drawing from the RD6 and R Coupe concepts, it'll feature an oval, mesh grille, twin single-unit headlights and a bumper with integrated twin fog lamps. Under the hood will reside the same powerplants as the current model: 2.7-liter turbodiesel, 3.0-liter V6 and 300-hp and 4.2-liter V8, along with a supercharged version powered by the XKR's eighter. With its fortunes unassured, Jag is in attack mode, with BMW's 5-Series in its sights. But can it pull the trigger? – Mike Spinelli
