German magazine Das Ist Jeopardy Automobilwoche reported over the weekend that Hyundai is in talks with F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone to launch its own Formula One team in 2010. That news comes amid reports that the Korean up-and-comer will launch a rally team by 2008. Not long ago, this kind of news would have been the punchline to a one-panel cartoon in the back of Sports Illustrated, but today the only ones laughing are those lounging in the company's executive bath chamber.
