The last thing any automaker could want leading up to the launch of an exciting new model is images of the car wrecked against a concrete post. Unfortunately for Hyundai, this 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe was caught making its first entry into the destruction derby of automotive life in Korea. According to a translated version of the Korean website Luckyworld, the car was wearing a temporary plate when it smashed into the concrete barrier around a street light, leaving both passenger and driver in critical condition. Since we don't really know the circumstances of the crash, we're not willing to rule out this being not a temp plate, but a manufacturers plate, meaning the car could have been a non-salable tester. Even though no media outlets have yet driven the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, that hasn’t stopped the company from handing them out to every tuner in the western hemisphere. The latest to get their grubby, carbon-stained hands on the Coupe is HKS, known for sticking big turbos in little cars — which is exactly the approach they took with the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. No performance numbers have been revealed yet, but expect HKS to unveil a range of Genesis performance upgrades, along with the boobs of several trashy booth babes at the SEMA show in November. Well, remember yesterday how we talked about the 2009 Hyundai Genesis being a value proposition at a sub-$30,000 price point with a V8? Well, Automotive News is reporting Hyundai Motor America has priced the new Genesis luxury sedan at $33,000 for the V6 version and $38,000 for the V8. Both prices include shipping. Do we still think it's a value proposition? Hmm. Not as much as before. What do you think? More »

Given that we've seen a lot of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis, you'd think we wouldn't care if one was spotted out on the streets. But thanks to Hyundai's ever-changing grille designs we're actually quite intrigued and are therefore grateful that good ol' "larithmos" over at the Motive Mag forums managed to snap these photos of the new Genesis driving through Wolverine territory. We're guessing they're going to keep the price of this luxury car low by never washing it. The grille design is more like this grille than this grille or this one. But maybe they're just trying to throw us off the scent. More »
