The British motoring rags are clamoring to reveal "exclusive" details of the 2010 Lotus Eagle. Yesterday, CAR brought us the first shot of the exterior of the new Lotus 2+2. Today, Autocar brings us the first interior shots and details of the powertrain. Even Lotus has gotten in on the act, issuing a press release that's full of hints about future high performance and convertible derivatives. All this is good for you because it means we can finally bring you some real analysis of the facts surrounding the $90,000 car that won't even be called Eagle. <a href="http://jalopnik.com/398638/the-2010-lotus-eagle-has-landed-with-new-pictures-analysis" title="Click here to read more about The 2010 Lotus "Eagle" Has Landed With New Pictures, Analysis">More »

We can't get enough of the 2010 Lotus Eagle and its Batman-esque camo. We showed you photos of the Lotus Eagle at the Nürburgring about a week ago, and now we have what we're thinking is the accompanying video of it driving in and around the ring. As we see more angles it looks like perhaps that's a rich black or dark blue color underneath all that tape. Also, round brake lights? On a Lotus? Crazy talk. The 2010 Lotus Eagle, the new Lotus 2+2 sports car we've all been waiting for, has possibly been spotted for the first time in production trim (we saw this possible Lotus Eagle mule testing in November). The driver of this prototype was unlucky enough to be captured just outside of the Bosch arctic testing facility, possibly out for a quick cocoa — or some kind of sneak preview viewing of the new Batman movie where he's decided to dress up the proto as the caped crusader. This new 2+2 should be slotted somewhere between the Elise and the next-gen Esprit in the Lotus lineup and fill the niche for people who like the Elise but would like a little room to carry passengers and gear. Or have two children with no legs. Rumors are that the Eagle's engine will be a V6 sourced from Toyota, and will likely be offered in displacements of 2.5- and 3.0-liters. Horsepower figures are expected somewhere between 200 and 300, making the new Lotus 2+2 a compelling performer, with zero-to-sixty times expected to be in the low five-second range. But heck, what do we know — we're just calling it the "2010" because it sounds good. Full spy report below the jump and more pictures in a moment. More »

The only thing we know about this mule spotted out and about — somewhere is that it's a Lotus test mule. Our sources claim it's a mule for the Lotus "Project Eagle" a supposed 2+2 tourer powered by a mid-mounted, transverse Toyota V6 and it's set to be revealed by the blossom-flower-brand sometime next year — possibly at the Geneva Auto Show, although latest word direct from the mouth of Mike Kimberley, CEO of Lotus was that we'd see it at the London Auto Show. The "Eagle" is then slated to take flight and alight in showrooms beginning in Europe in 2009 as a 2010 model. Did we mention it's also supposed to have paddle shifters? Other sources tell us these pictures could be a mule for the new Esprit and still others tell us "It's a Lotus mule, who the heck really knows what's under there?" Why don't you thumb through the shots below and tell us what you think it is. More »
