You know you wanted more diesel goodness, well, this is it. As part of the Mercedes march upon Geneva, they've revealed the latest version of the "Sports Coupé with fun factor," the 2009 CLC 220 CDI. Essentially, this is to the C-Class what the CLK is to the E-Class. Which is to say it's a bit confused because while the back of the car seems to have been truncated, it would be hard to call the CLC unanimously ugly. This particular model is probably the one C-Class or variant a buyer should want to buy (unless there's an AMG CLC63 in the future) mostly because the 220 CDI is the better of two diesel engines offered in the lineup. Think of this as more as a frugal micro-GT car rather than completely left-brain transportation. Full press release below the jump.

We've already brought you pictures of the 2009 Mercedes CLC covered with models for the Berlin Fashion Week. As we originally thought, the new version of the Sports Coupe isn't actually based on the new C-Class architecture but instead gets the visual enhancements to make it look like the rest of the line. In fact, they've enhanced or newly developed 1,100 components (which could mean suspension or could mean shift knob gasket). Engines include two turbodiesels, two four-cylinder mills and two six-cylinder engines mated either to a six-speed manual, five speed auto or the 7GTRONIC. Though not the most expensive model in Mercedes' line, it's an important one as 40% of Sports Coupe buyers moved up to a larger Mercedes such as the E-Class, CLK or SLK. The new Mercedes-Benz CLC sports coupe (ahem the C-Class SportsCoupe) is a dirty whore. We keep trying to get a good look at it but it's always got some woman (and occasionally some man) on top of it. Look, we know it's debuting at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin and that's how they do things in Berlin. We're not judging. Just move the models. MACH SCHNELL! Appropriately, the new CLC is mostly an aesthetic change as they claim "1,100 components have been either developed new for the sports coupe or refined from the previous model" which we're fairly sure means that it's not based on the new C-Class.
