The Detroit News' Brett Clanton reported this morning that UAW vice president Bob King said yesterday the union is ready to help solve FoMoCo's "crisis." We're not really sure exactly how Bob and the rest of the UAW are going to fix things like new product development, a 9,000-person executive dining hall and a lack of "Bold Moves," but hey, giving FoMoCo a reduction in their "legacy costs" is at least a little bit of help, and every little bit counts. At least it's yet another example of how the balls-to-the-wall UAW is turning over to show its warm and fuzzy underbelly and working together with management at all of the automakers. As King said,
"When the UAW and Ford are aligned and committed, we have a great history of success...we understand the crisis at Ford...we have to be far more aggressive in finding a solution."
It's so nice to see them willing to play nice with FoMoCo, isn't it? Especially since they want to move the lot of them to Mexico.
