Breaking! DaimlerChrysler's Sales Numbers Down 34% For July

"Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, it's the first of the month, so get up, get up, get up, get up, get up, cash your checks and come on."

—Bone Thugs-n-Harmony

Since it is the first of the month, sales numbers are rolling out of automakers' hands like fat blunts. The American-German hybrid of DaimlerChrysler dropped its July sales numbers first...and the numbers...they aren't so good. Total group sales in the US for the month of July declined 34% to 171,940 passenger vehicles. Chrysler Group, comprising Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands, posted sales of 150,349 vehicles in the US, a decrease of 37% from last year. But there was one light shining through the darkness. Mercedes-Benz USA sales for the month rose 4% to 21,591 vehicles. With sales numbers like that, looking on the bright side is the only thing to do. This doesn't bode well for the rest of the automakers reporting today — and those checks they be cashing — probably gonna be pretty small this next quarter.
