The buyout period is now over and choices have been made by many and now must be lived with by all. Word from the RenCen in downtown Detroit — along the scenic Detroit River (one of us who used to work for Travel Michigan must add) — is here! And the word is — 35,000 workers have accepted the buyout. But what does this mean? What we know is this'll save GM somewhere around $160,00 per worker — even if they end up hiring temp workers to take the newly-retired workers jobs. Not too shabby if you ask us.
