Although the twenty-year civil war between Tamil separatists in northern Sri Lanka and the rest of the nation ended in 2002, at least one garage owner prefers colonial-era British cars to new Japanese iron for their ruggedness and simplicity. In fact, if the UK's auto industry hadn't collapsed under the weight of its own crappiness, he says he'd still buy British today. He may be the only shop owner in the world who feels this way.
