GM may have paid Fiat a balance of billionz to end the companies' alliance, but products of that alliance live on. Take, for example this new Opel Corsa, which will appear next year in the European subcompact market. The new Corsa shares underpinnings with Fiat's hot-selling 2006 Grande Punto. Now under the domain of GM-Daewoo, that Gamma platform (whispers, whispers) could show up in the US as a new, small Chevrolet. Nonetheless, Europeans will get a wide range of powerplants, including a 1.6-liter turbocharged mill that could make the Corsa a viable competitor to the Peugeot 207 GTI. Hmm, did someone say Aveo SS?
