You may remember "Moonraker" as the Bond movie that introduced snowboarding to pop culture (and for sucking), but the 1979 film also gave name to a major market-research project Volkswagen is undertaking in the US. A team of 23 employees (one of whom is American) are holed up in a Malibu beach house, tasked with getting a line on the tastes of the US market. Plagued by dismal US sales, the company is desparate to get back its US mojo, and hopes the team can make product suggestions to the home office for ideas on new, US-focused cars. Sources said, however, that several angry e-mails have been sent from Wolfsburg to Malibu, demanding they stop suggesting a pink Barbie Eos roadster.
