Dodge Abandons First-Time Buyers with Neon Replacement

AutoWeek is reporting the opening in Dodge's line left by the Neon — a car targeted to first-time buyers — won't be filled by the 2007 Caliber. Instead, the Caliber will be targeted to second-time buyers. Due to be launched in the first quarter of 2006, the Caliber will start at around $17,000, nearly $3000 more than the base Neon. In turn, the replacement for the Dodge Stratus will be targeted to third-time buyers; the Dodge Intrepid replacement will be targeted to seventh-time buyers, and the Dodge Dart replacement will be targeted to buyers who can't remember what day it is.
