We've long loved it when Car and Driver has rounded up a group of outlandish cars to compete in a performance deathmatch. Having fallen into the pattern of testing steroidal four-cylinder cars in odd years and bigger, beefier mills in the evens, this year's round was handed off to the 'bangers, which still doesn't preclude quarter-mile times in the 11s. Divided into two categories, the front-drive Howell Automotive Dodge SRT4 acted as a fitting farewell to the Neon, while HKS defended the Evo's honor against rear-and-all-wheel drive entries as diverse as Audis, Miatas and Toyota Tundras.
