That collective shriek you just heard was Japan's Saturday-night Hashiriya racers enunciating wild anticipation for their next halo car. Nissan announced it will unveil the prototype of its new GT-R at the Tokyo motor show. The prototype will be practically the same as the production model — set to replace the discontinued icon of the Japanese racing universe, the GTR-Skyline — which will launch in 2007. The long-awaited new GT-R, which will be a global model (to the delight of US-based Hashirya), is a near-final extension of the GT-R concept introduced at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show.
