Nissan to Unveil 2006 350Z, Grand Touring Coupe Edition

Nissan's 18th Annual Z Car soiree in upstate New York will host its unveiling of the 2006 350Z, which has reportedly gotten a mild cosmetic upgrade. It's the first time the car's gone under the knife since its introduction in 2002, and Nissan says the updates include a revised front end, along with an "enhanced" interior (hmm, jargon alert) and new 18-inch front/19-inch rear five-spoke alloys, which are standard on the Z's new Grand Touring Coupe edition, a option package of mild performance enhancements. Groovy.

The Grand Touring Coupe will also get Brembo brakes, front and rear spoilers and Nissan's Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), the stability control system found on many Infiniti models. Also for 2006, Z cars equipped with six-speed manual transmission models are being uptuned to 300hp — five-speed auto models are rated at 287hp — and all the Zs will get a new speed-sensitive power steering feature.

More stuff for '06: Standard 18-inch cast aluminum-alloy wheels (except Track and Grand Touring models), standard bi-xenon (low and high beam) headlights, added mp3 CD capability for the optional Bose audio system and three new exterior paint colors.
