Move over Rolls, Bentley and Ferrari, those worth $5 million or more consider the Maybach the top ultra-luxury car brand. A study by New York—based luxury-goods research firm, The Luxury Institute (seriously, that's what it's called) found that Penta-Millionaires ($5 million) and Ultra High Net Worths ($25 million+) ranked the Maybach top among ultra-luxury automobiles. Also-rans include (alphabetically) Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Maybach, Mercedes, Porsche, and Rolls Royce. The study is based on brand perception, not necessarily experience with the car, so the results are less about quality than prestige. Maybach executives are probably happy their from-nowhere branding efforts are paying off, though they're probably wondering why some of those cheap bastards won't just get out there and buy some damn cars already.
