'69 Camaro Drift Car Debuts at Sonoma

While last weekend's Formula D event at Sonoma was mainly notable for the first absence of an American car in the winner's circle since the series began (Calvin Wan took the trophy in his G35), something else happened at the track that we'd been waiting for since pro drifting came Stateside: a vintage American musclecar tearing it up out there with the late-model iron. Ryan Hampton's '69 Camaro features a big block Chevy mill with aluminum heads and a Holley four-barrel, which is pretty standard musclecar stuff. The biggest change made to the car was the exchange of the F-body's leaf-spring rear suspension for a four-link unit. We're holding out for a drifting '62 Dart.
