GM, what's with you? Are we loyal employees deserving of a reward at the company store, or are we pampered, margin-busting consumers to be courted like a lasagna-cooking nymphomaniac? Oh, we're both? Sweet. This week, the company opened a summer picnic basket's worth of cash rebates — from between $500 and $1,000 on fresh 2006 models, and up to $3000 on 2005 leftovers. It's also offering some modest loan deals, but obviously wants its cash sooner rather than later — 1.9% financing is available on selected models, but only for 36-month loans. Still, by August 1, the GM discount coach, on all fronts, returns to pumpkin status.
