A Ford Focus for the Chinese market, to be built by Changan Ford (FoMoCo's China-based venture) in Chongqing, made its runway debut at Auto Shanghai 2005 yesterday. According to the press release, the ChiFoc (our own derivation) appears to be based on the European Focus platform (Volvo S40/Mazda3), meaning it's the one we wish we had in the US. The base engine for China is the midrange 1.8 liter Duratec motor (125hp), offered on Euro models.
