As lifelong New Yorkers who could probably write at least a preliminary draft of "The White People's Guide to the Puerto Rican Dialect," if we had a full pot of Bustelo, we wouldn't utter "La Puta" under our breaths, even if a fire truck headed to a three-alarm code-red was passing by, just in case someone's bilingual sister or grandmother happened past.
