New In-Car iPod Options, One from GM

iPod site iPod Lounge profiles a new, aftermarket system for iPod users to hook up with their car stereos. The iPod2Car is complex, relative to our own cassette-based interface, and requires minor dashboard disassembly to install. Still, the system offers features we lack from our "plug and go" solution, like the ability to charge the iPod in its base and manipulate controls via steering wheel buttons.

A new family of GM radios will include an auxiliary channel and front mounted auxiliary input jack for iPods (or any other audio source) to be played through the vehicle audio system, though devices can't be controlled by stereo dials, like BMW's system. The radios will be offered on the Chevy HHR, Impala and Monte Carlo; Saturn VUE and ION; Pontiac Solstice; Buick Lucerne; and Cadillac DTS.
