Woman Racer Defies Bias to Compete in Iran

Laleh Seddigh is becoming one of Iran's top auto racing competitors, despite resistance from her male counterparts (and many men in general) in that country. Seddigh (Sadiq), who competes in both race karting and touring car races, has received sponsorship offers from Proton, Mazda and Hyundai, but struggles for acceptance in the male-dominated sport. "Every time I want to practice or make a test drive, the track staff ask me for a letter of permission — even though I am the captain of the Proton speed team," she told a reporter. Sounds like a job for the Racerchicks.
