When Carroll Shelby asked designer Peter Brock, in 1963, to create a more aerodynamic design based on Shelby's Cobra, he had one goal in mind: Beat Ferrari. That goal was accomplished in 1965, when the Daytona swept the GT class. Now, Superperformance, a builder of replicars in South Africa, has teamed with Brock to create an updated version of the Daytona. It comes nearly complete, sans drivetrain, for about $60,000. With a Roush-tuned Ford racing motor, for say, $20,000 installed, you've got a comparably priced Viper-beater. What about Ferrari? You can check one out in your rear view.
