With Gravity Racers, Competition Is All Downhill

We have a confession to make: Our Pine Derby racer was a disgrace of bad planning, asymmetry, shoddy craftsmanship and poor painting skills. That it didn't come in closer than five car-lengths behind any of its competitors on the guideway was surprising to neither us nor our scoutmaster, who looked on with astonishment as we brought out the rickety creation on race day. Needless to say, we weren't picked to build a car for and compete in the All-American Soap Box Derby, a couple of years later. The guys competing in the for-charity Extreme Gravity Racing Series (XGR), however, probably were.
