No offense to Queen Latfiah and Jimmy Fallon, but let s just say the new Fox movie Taxi looks about as funny as a spun bearing. Still, us car folk can t help but get a shade, er, encouraged at the tricked-out Crown Vic taxicab storming across the preview in full ground effects and a wide-ass blower intake sticking through the hood. A visit to the official movie site offers no vitals a gigantic letdown for those of us with visions of blueprinted Ford small blocks and build specs dancing in our heads. Why not sell Taxi as a chase movie, a la Ronin? After all, it is based on a film of the same name by the French Frankenheimer, Luc Besson ( The Transporter, The Fifth Element ), who produced this one. Hey Fox, Feature the Vicky as a third main character and give the gearheads a reason to care.
