Commenter Of The Day
We're not sure why "two for the price of one" is such a popular way to get people to buy things. If we didn't want one of something why would we suddenly want more than one of them? Though this is usually used on television to sell citrus-based cleaning products, it has spread to the auto market. You've probably heard about the dealership in Illinois selling a Chrysler Pacifica at MSRP ($39,000) and throwing in a lightly used 2008 PT Cruiser for $1. It looks like it worked because
three people took them up on the offer. It's not a great deal when you consider that no one, ever, has paid full price for a Chrysler Pacifica. Today, Didorosi wrote about a real instance of a fake-sounding event from
The Fast And The Furious, which is like two-for-one if you think about it. You get both
Fast and
Furious. And with
Dearthair and
TheEastBayKid, we get two COTDs for the price of one.

Project Car Hell
Welcome to
Project Car Hell, where you choose your eternity by selecting the project that's the coolest... and the most hellish! Yesterday, we saw a 6.9 Benz
face defeat for the first time in Project Car Hell history, a feat that generally requires unholy intervention by
the Prince Of Darkness himself, or at least the presence of Citroën badges. We've had a run of affordable Hell Projects lately, and that's fine… but sometimes we need to mainline some optimism and look at spending a few more bucks at the gateway to Gearhead Gehenna.

Carpocalypse Now
So we're sitting here in the press room of the
LA Auto Show thinking about
Carpocalypse Now, the
fight for loans from Congress and thinking to ourselves — you know the UAW and Congress? They're really not so different from each other. It's almost like looking in a mirror. A freaky state fair carnival mirror, but a mirror nonetheless. Here's our list of the top eleven similarities between these two seemingly disparate groups.

Novelties
The brilliance of
Wikipedia is vigorous peer review on even the most minute detail and completely humorless administrators. That genius produces a fairly reliable and constantly evolving public encyclopedia. Unfortunately, it also manages to kill some absolutely brilliant fiction in favor of maintaining the "truth" about past events. Take for instance the origins of the Michelin Man, an advertising icon almost as old as the tire company it represents. In the real world Bibendum, the actual name of the character, was created by an artist specifically for advertising purposes. In
Wikipedia's revisionist record, the origins of the Michelin Man show the murderous past of an out of control robot on a rampage.
